Dave Polster, M.Sc., R.P. Bio., will show how natural processes can be applied to the restoration of sites that humans have disturbed. This talk will look at common constraints/barriers to ecological recovery – erosion, competition, compaction, low nutrients, etc. – and how natural systems solve these problems. Soil bioengineering techniques for the treatment of landslides, steep, unstable and/or eroding sites will be presented as a means of integrating steep and/or unstable slopes into these natural processes. |
